Founded in 1947. Salomon are experts in all things outdoors. The Salomon family opened their first workshop in Annecy specializing in ski edges. Being located close to the Alps. The brands focus during the time was on skiing making huge technological advancements within the alpine sport. There HQ to this day is still located in Annecy.

Between making Solomon's first binding in 1957, all the way to 1972, they began to dominate. Establishing themselves as the best selling ski binding manufacturer in the world. They were even able to create the first self release ski binding that were even showcased and the 1966 Chile Olympics.
With the on going success of their ski bindings they were able to achieve a highly respectable status in winter sports and even made their own skis by 1990. Not long after this huge milestone for Salomon, they wanted to move into other outdoor activities. Bringing to life their first hiking boot in 1992. This was the start of a line which became a huge focus for the brand and continues to be too this day.
Releasing a wide range of product across many outdoor disciplines adidas acquired the Salomon Group in 1997 until 2005. Bringing some of their own sole technologies in to the design process. The Salomon Group later announced that they will be sold to Amer Sports of Finland for a huge €485million.
In 2008 and in 2013, the brand had two big ripples in the design world, with introductions of new footwear fit technology. 2008 - saw them bring their ‘Custom Fit’ technology which was paired by a win from Kilian Jornet who won the UTMB race (Ultra-Trail du Mont-Blanc) and set a new record of 170km in 20hrs. The second victory in 2013 showcased Salomon's upgrade to the ‘Custom Fit’ range called ‘Custom Fit 3D’. This was following another victory from Emelie Forsberg who won the Skyrunning World Championship.
Salomon even designed what is commonly known now as the quick lace. Produced by long serving designer Patrick Leick. Patrick was also the instigator behind the creation of the Mount Everest climbing boot, worn by Mr. Jornet himself. Who currently holds the record for the fastest ever recorded decent down the worlds largest peak.
There is no doubt that Salomon have dominated in the outdoor sporting world. From the mountains to the streets. Showcasing their product in a new light since 2018, with the relatively recently push within fashion Salomon has gone from the ultimate outdoor brand to a fashion must have. All thanks to one protagonist called Jean-Pierre Ladonde. Who has assisted them in a way that has helped solidify themselves within the sneaker community with no signs of slowing down. If you seen any collaboration they have done, hes most likely the instigator behind it.
Did You Know: Before Salomon produced skis and bindings they made wood saw blades as Francois Salomon was a metal worker at the time. It was only till a little bit later they began to create ski products.
