On Running Cloudmonster ‘Acai’

I was first introduced to the brand when I was 18 through my local sports shop where I grew up. At that time and still to this day, they still occupy much of the shop floor space. (Shout out Simply Sports).

Swiss engineering has always been known to push boundaries in multiple outlets. On Running is a testament to that. Developing such an individualistic form of tech, that is arguably more recognisable that the logo itself.

Formally establishing On in 2010. Three-time world duathlon champion / multiple Ironman winner Olivier Bernhard, and his friends David Allemann and Caspar Coppetti, aimed to produce a new kind of running shoe that embodied the runners experience and technical innovation.

Their first racing shoe, the Cloudracer, worn by Frederik Van Lierde, even won the Ironman World Championships in Kona, Hawaii in 2013.

The On Cloudmonster made its debut in March 2022. To list a few specs; it weighs 275g, a heel to toe drop of 6mm and is a road running shoe. Its lightweight mesh uppers are breathable, helping regulate your foot temperature on longer runs. Additionally, both sockliner and upper are made of recycled materials (a commonality now within performance footwear). The boldly designed midsole is comprised of their Helion™ super foam, Ons specialist CloudTec® technology and its Speedboard ® energy transmitter - offering a cushioned, supportive, responsive, and fast ride.

I gave these a good hammering since receiving them with a total of 87km across all runs I did. I was hesitant to try them at first. Being a more cushioned runner and my ankles over-pronating a bit too much, I thought they would do more damage than good. I was happily proven wrong! Even after running a half-marathon distance, they felt great, no pains on my part and good enough to go again the following day.

All in all, would recommend to anyone looking to try something new on the streets.

Massive thank you to the @on_running for sorting these out.
