adidas Originals x C.P. Company - Explorer Jacket

In 2018 we were graced with the launch of the adidas Originals x C.P. Company collaboration. Featuring both footwear and ready to wear, this project was the first venture that adidas and C.P. took together which undoubtedly turned many heads.

C.P. Company, previously known as Chester Perry Company was the brain child of late designer Massimo Osti in 1971. He also founded other brands such as Stone Island. The brand has stood the test of time as well as being one of the leaders in garment engineering; whether that be dying processes or innovative materials, C.P. have not slowed down.

From the moment I saw the teaser imagery, featuring Loyle Carner wearing the red F&F edition of this jacket, it was an instant buy. Closer to release I remember ordering this jacket in at my previous place of work and purchasing it on the day without hesitation.

Known as the - adidas Originals x C.P. Company Explorer Jacket -. This piece is a rehash of the very well know ‘Explorer Jacket’, which was based off a vintage protective hood used by the Japanese Civil Defence. The Explorer was Osti’s first entry into bringing the concept of the goggle jackets to life in 1987. Thanks to sports optic specialist Baruffaldi they were able to make this possible whilst maintaining the fabrics integrity. This later led to the creation of the infamous ‘Mille Miglia Jacket’, which swapped the goggles from the collar of the jacket to the hood.

All in all, this jacket was only available in the dark kelp like green to the public with I believe a red and also black version being given out to Friends & Family.
