adidas CL Response Breakdown

adidas’s mid 2000s runners aren’t always the most recognisable and arguably, standard in terms of aesthetic (regardless of how technical they may be). So much so, that the release of the Response CL in 2020, went a miss and hit the sales racks with 0 consideration made by lil sneddies.

The Response range featured modernised technology that was a step ahead from anything previously produced by the brand. Obscurities such as, the Response Cushion (2003) , Response Control 7 (2007) or one of my favourites the Response Climacool (2005). These products were more than just adiPRENE+ midsoles. They were about durability and freedom in the foot, that allowed the athlete a smooth, comfortable and stable ride.

Looking closer at the Response CL; It’s construction is an almost hybrid model to its predecessors. This brought an individualistic look from top to bottom, taking design cues from the Response Cushion (2003), and a variety of midsole technologies showcased in many of adidas’s mid 2000s runners (Formotion & adiPRENE).

It’s safe to say this technical looking runner is on trend and heavily slept on.

This particular version is Bad Bunnies more recent endeavour with the 3 stripes. The hugely popular Puerto Rican artist continued his playful approach with a melted take on the Response CL with the leather, TPU and embroidered panels slipping away from the upper. The toe box also features a melted (or as I like to call it, droopy) heart, also embroidered.

This cream/sail/white take on the Response CL, is broken apart with silver hues that take lead on the underlays giving this a nice friendly shimmer as you take your stride into the sunshine.

My thoughts - mucho like 👍🏼
